Scripture
1 Peter 1:8-9 [CJB]
"8 Without having seen him, you love him. Without seeing him now, but trusting in him, you continue to be full of joy that is glorious beyond words. 9 And you are receiving what your trust is aiming at, namely, your deliverance."
Reflection
Joy! Faith and life can feel incredibly heavy at times, and often for good reason. Life is complex, like a 100,000-piece puzzle, and there are so many day-to-day things that can crowd our minds and demand our attention. It’s easy to get caught up worrying about the weather, planning social events, or thinking ahead to bills and responsibilities, and slowly, without noticing, we drift away from living with joy. But when we strip these things back, we realise there is an unrelenting joy underneath it all. We who have not seen Jesus, yet love Him and trust in Him, have every reason to live with joy! Through what He has done for us, becoming our Passover Lamb, we have been redeemed and born again in the Spirit. When I pause to realise the magnitude of that truth, it dawns on me that it's something worth singing and dancing about! The stresses and worries of life begin to pale in comparison. I know I’m guilty of getting caught in the weeds and losing sight of the incredible deliverance that has been gifted to me, a gift I had no right to receive, yet was given freely by a loving God. A God who delights in His people rejoicing, clapping their hands, and living with joyful hearts.
Today’s quest
Put on a song today that fills you with joy, and let yourself enjoy it fully as a gift from God!
Your reflection
““And you are receiving what your trust is aiming at, namely, your deliverance." A good reminder that the joy that the Lord has for us is not in the material things of life but it is found in the deliverance we receive from him! No wonder life starts to feel empty even when a schedule can be full up - it was never about the social events or the day to day weeds but all about encountering and living in the true gift of Christ - salvation 🎉”
